Brighton and Hove Albion are preparing an offer for Aston Villa teenage sensation Keinan Davis in January. It is being reported that the Seagulls boss Chris Hughton has been monitoring the progress of the 19-year-old over the past few months following his eye-catching breakthrough season in the English Championship. Some sources are claiming that Brighton are preparing a £3m package in an effort to secure the services of the highly rated England Under-20 international.
Davis is considered as one of the hottest prospects in English football and has put in some dazzling displays for Steve Bruce’s side this season. The 19-year-old has also enhanced his reputation at the international after he was called up to represent the England Under-20 side. It is also believed that Bournemouth has joined the Seagulls in the race to sign the talented youth sensation after sending scouts to monitor his progress in recent matches. Although, Brighton is set to make the first approach and are ready to launch a bid in pursuit of the Villans forward this month.
Any potential suitors will be hoping that Davis will continue to develop in the next few years and earn a senior international call-up if he can continue to impress at the top level.
Brighton boss Chris Hughton reckons that he can nurture the young Villa prospect at the Amex by handing him regular game time in the Premier League. If they are successful in their attempts to sign Davis, he would complete a fairy-tale journey from non-league football to the top of English football.
Brighton are currently sitting in 12th place in the Premier League standings and are still in danger of a potential relegation at the end of the season. The Seagulls find themselves just three points above the relegation zone so Chris Hughton’s men should take nothing for granted. Any new recruit made in the January transfer window should be able to help them in their quest to avoid the drop. However, splashing the cash on a talented striker for the future may turn out to be a gamble for Hughton’s men at this stage of the season with their rivals trying to strengthen as well in a bid to avoid the drop.
The 19-year-old Villa striker has scored 4 goals and made 3 assists in 23 appearances across all competitions this season. Davis is still young but his current form shows that Brighton might not get the best out of him in this campaign. It remains to be seen whether the Seagulls are successful in their attempt to lure him away from Villa Park this month.
