Aston Villa are looking to secure the services of Blackburn Rovers star Bradley Dack. According to recent reports in the English media, the Villans are among a whole host of clubs looking to seal a deal for the 24-year-old midfielder. The English talent joined the Rovers from Gillingham on a deal worth in the region of £750,000 last summer and has been in majestic form for the Lancashire club so far this season. He is currently under contract at Ewood Park until the summer of 2020 with Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray reluctant to part ways with his prized asset. The Lancashire club is currently looking to fend off the growing interest on their star midfielder before the transfer window comes to a close at the end of this month.
Aston Villa is set to be joined by Leeds United and Middlesbrough in the race for Dack’s signature. The 24-year-old has established himself as a goalscoring machine in League One since making his debut for Gillingham back in 2012. He had the honour of being named the League One’s player of the season for the 2015/16 campaign. Rovers boss Mowbray has recently praised Dack’s contributions in midfield and was quoted to have said,
”I want to sign good players, and I knew I was doing that when we brought Bradley Dack into the football club.
“I wasn’t hoping for anything from Bradley apart from working really hard and being the player I know he is.
“He’s contributing to winning football matches and working so hard, which is an important thing with me for Bradley.
“He’ll get the rewards – as we all will – if he carries this on and continues to influence games for us.
“The main attribute is that he continues to fight for the team and playing his part for the team.”
Aston Villa are currently in 4th place in the Championship table and are well in with a chance to earn a playoff spot at the end of the season. However, Steve Bruce could look to push his players for an automatic promotion spot by hunting down second-placed Derby County who sit just three points above them. The arrival of Dack at Villa Park will definitely boost their chances of securing promotion to the top tier of English football.
The 24-year-old has scored 12 goals and made 5 assists in 29 matches for Blackburn Rovers in all competitions this season. It remains to be seen whether Steve Bruce is able to convince Blackburn to part ways with their midfield maestro before the end of this month.
