Having won each of their last four games in the domestic league with ease, Steve Bruce’s Aston Villa have a serious chance of promotion this season. The manager will be desperate to take his team to the top flight but seems convinced that they need a few additions to the squad before they can pip the best teams in the competition, for a place in the Premier League.
This has seen Villa linked with a number of exciting stars and one name exciting the fans is French youngster Enzo Crivelli.
Keen to add to his striking options, Bruce has been looking at a number of names recently but reports from France claim that Crivelli is at the top of his wish list. He is not in great form for the Ligue 1 outfit Angers this season but the story claims that the Villa manager is convinced of his qualities and wants to bring him to England.
Angers, his parent club are ready to let him leave but Villa face tough competition from league leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers, who are also in search of a striker. But who is Crivelli and what will he bring to Villa Park?
A product of the academy at Bordeaux, Crivelli moved to Raymond Kopa just this summer but has failed to establish himself in the first team at Angers. He has made 12 Ligue 1 starts this season but has managed just a goal and an assist but at just 22, he is one of the most highly rated attackers in France at the moment.
A striker with physical attributes perfect for the English game, Crivelli is a dominating presence in the final third. He wins almost every ball in and is devastating with his headers and hold up play. He is a technically gifted player, who loves to make space for himself in dangerous areas but is also adept at creating chances for his side, with short and crisp passes.
He is capable of leading the line for some top flight clubs in Europe and will be a decent addition to the squad at Villa Park.
The Villains have seen Keinan Davis show some great form, leading the line for his side in the Championship with the good effect this season. However, at just 19, he will need an able back up for the business end of the season and Scott Hogan is just not the answer.
There are very few options in the squad to lead the line except this duo and though the Angers’ man will not add experience to the attack, he certainly will give them a different dimension, adding some balance to the Villa attack. But do you think he is the right man for Aston Villa?
