Arsenal’s pursuit for a top-four finish suffered a huge blow today as they were defeated by Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. Arsene Wenger’s men took a lead through Hector Bellerin’s calm finish in the second-half but two successive goals from the Cherries, being scored by Callum Wilson and Jordan Ibe, took the game away from the North London based outfit.
Arsenal Players Rated And Slated
Petr Cech 5/10
Cech did well to withstand everything that was thrown at him until the last 20 minutes of the game. He must have done better to prevent Wilson and Ibe from scoring.
Calum Chambers 6/10
It was an encouraging performance by Chambers who read the game well and was solid, more often than not, to prevent his side from conceding.
Shkodran Mustafi 6/10
The German international marshalled the backline in a decent manner but the last 20 minutes completely reduced them into tatters.
Rob Holding 4/10
Holding hardly found his feet during the game and was timorous while he was in possession. The youngster failed to keep Wilson at the bay.
Hector Bellerin 7/10
The Spaniard galloped up and down the right-hand side and operated with relative ease. Bellerin handed the lead to his side by scoring a fine goal and showcased immense work-rate.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles 5.5/10
While his offensive abilities can hardly be questioned, considering his age, he certainly failed to contribute to the defensive aspect of his side the way he should have.
Granit Xhaka 6.5/10
The Swiss dictated the game from the middle in the first-half and kept things ticking with his passes. However, he struggled after the break.
Jack Wilshere 7/10
Wilshere was arguably one of the best players on the pitch for the Gunners as he kept things neat and tidy. He was the engine room of the midfield and showed a lot of industry.
Alex Iwobi 6/10
Lively at times and out of the equation in the other, Iwobi might have picked Bellerin meticulously for the goal but he certainly needs to be consistent throughout the game from now.
Danny Welbeck 5/10
The Englishman made some intelligent runs during the game but once again, it was his inability to make good use of the ball that hindered his productivity.
Alexandre Lacazette 5/10
Lacazette is becoming a frustrated figure now and his teammates hardly fetched him anything substantial to end his goal drought. The Frenchman did manoeuvre some quality passes through.
Substitutions
Aaron Ramsey 4/10
Ramsey did add a bit of spice to the midfield after replacing Chambers in the second-half but failed to muster anything substantial in the final third.
Theo Walcott 3/10
Walcott replaced Iwobi but couldn’t make any impact at all.
