Inter Milan forward Mauro Icardi has expressed his desire to make a dream move to Manchester United. According to a recent report in the English press, the 24-year-old forward dreams of a move to Old Trafford but is currently happy at the San Siro where he has been in sparkling form for Inter Milan this season. However, the Argentine international has chosen the Red Devils as his ideal preference when he eventually decides to move abroad from Italy.
Real Madrid has been linked with the forward in recent times as a potential replacement for their out of form striker Karim Benzema. Although, it is understood the reigning European champions would prefer Tottenham Hotspur’s poacher Harry Kane over Icardi. The Argentina international still remains high on Zinedine Zidane’s wish-list. If Inter Milan are willing to part ways with their prized asset over the summer then some Spanish sources are claiming that the Argentine striker would want a move to Manchester United.
It is believed that playing under former Inter Milan manager Jose Mourinho is something that the Inter frontman would cherish. Meanwhile, Mourinho might be looking for more attacking options with Romelu Lukaku failing to be consistent for the Red Devils this season while Zlatan Ibrahimovic is struggling with injuries at the moment. So if they decide to opt for a move for the Argentine poacher in the summer, Mourinho’s side is surely going to have an upper hand on Real Madrid in pursuit of his signature.
For now, Icardi is content with life in Italian football and is having a terrific season at the San Siro. The 24-year-old centre-forward has featured in 21 matches for Inter Milan this season and has scored 17 goals and made one assist in all competitions so far. His contribution has helped Inter climb to third place in the Serie A standings and the Milan club are well on course to finish in the top 4 which would mean Champions League football next term.
Manchester United, on the other hand, has fallen off the pace in the Premier League title race and are looking for a clinical finisher who can bang in the goals for the Red Devils in their quest to take the power back from rivals Manchester City who are currently leading the Premier League by a country mile. Icardi will definitely be a great addition if the Red Devils decided to make a move for him in the future.
However, for now, the Argentine is expected to continue his good form in the Serie A and any potential deal will most likely take place at the end of the season.
