Leicester City are travelling to the Goodison Park for their Premier League tie against Everton on Wednesday. The Foxes have bounced back to winning ways with 3 in their last 4 fixtures. The one draw came against Chelsea as Claude Puel’s men impressed with a resolute display at Stamford Bridge on the 13th.
Puel fielded his second-string side against Peterborough United on the weekend for their FA Cup fifth-round match. Kelechi Iheanacho and Fousseni Diabate earned themselves a brace to lead the side to a 5-1 win. Leicester finally overtook Burnley in the league table by winning 2-0 against Watford last week and are now 8 points behind Arsenal in the 7th spot.
They have certainly improved upon their 12th place last season finish and are eager to bridge the gap towards the European qualification spots.
Therefore a loss should be completely ruled out especially against a side who are struggling to add one to the win column in recent weeks. It looked like Everton had finally taken the turn towards their usual path but judging by their winless run stretching to 6 league games, they are far from it. Sam Allardyce has been tasked with the job of returning the team to the top half of the table and while he has done that, finishing the season on an even better note will be in his agenda. Leicester cannot afford to slack off in this fixture and Puel will have to field his best side. He is expected to field his men in the 4-4-1-1 formation.
Defence
Kasper Schmeichel is expected to get the nod for the starting XI. He is averaging 3 saves per game and is the number one choice ahead of Ben Hamer and Eldin Jakupovic.
Danny Simpson returned to the lineup against the Posh and looked solid against the League One side. He might start ahead of the makeshift option of Daniel Amartey.
Robert Huth is also pegged to make a return and might start in this fixture alongside Harry Maguire in the centre-back role.
Ben Chilwell is expected to provide cover from the left.
Midfield
Vincent Iborra and Wilfred Ndidi are predicted starters in the holding midfield role. They should be flanked by Riyad Mahrez on the right and Marc Albrighton on the left.
Attack
Demarai Gray might start in the shadow striker role ahead of Shinji Okazaki. The 21-year-old has been impressive this season combining well with Jamie Vardy in the lone striker role.
