Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema has rejected two offers to leave the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in this January transfer window. According to recent reports coming out of the Spanish media, the Frenchman is set to stay in the Spanish capital for the immediate future. It is believed that the 30-year-old has rejected offers from two clubs to part ways with the Galacticos this summer. The France international has been plying his trade at Madrid for nine years but has been recently touted to make a move abroad as the club’s president Florentino Perez looks to give Los Blancos’ attack a makeover.
Some sources in the Spanish press has recently reported that Arsenal made an offer of £35m for the 30-year-old’s services as they look to bolster their forward line. However, the Frenchman has no intentions of leaving the La Liga giants and is currently happy with his life at Madrid. He wants to stay and honour his contract with the club which runs out in the summer of 2021. It is understood that the French forward has reportedly turned down offers from two unnamed teams and is reluctant to depart the Spanish capital unless a suitable offer comes in for him.
Zinedine Zidane’s side are in dire need of some new additions in the near future after the club’s recent struggles in the league.
Real Madrid currently finds themselves in 4th place in the La Liga standings, a massive 19 points behind league leaders and their bitter rivals Barcelona, having played a game less than the Catalans. Perhaps, one of the biggest problems for the club’s struggles in this campaign has been the poor form of their forward, Karim Benzema. The French poacher is looking like a shadow of his former self and has failed to display any kind of consistency this season.
He has scored 6 goals and made 4 assists in 23 appearances for Los Blancos in all competitions but has been wasteful with his chances in front of goal on multiple occasions, which have cost his team some integral results.
His potential departure could have been a blessing in disguise but the forward is now willing to stay at the club in his quest to try and recapture his old form. It looks highly likely that the club might still ship him out in the summer if he does not start delivering consistently in front of goal. They have some crucial Champions League matches to look forward to in February against one of Europe’s most potent sides in the form of Paris Saint-Germain. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Karim Benzema and whether he can rekindle his career at Madrid.
