Watford is ready to fend off Chelsea by preparing a new, improved contract for their star Brazilian Richarlison. The 20-year old attacking player moved to the English side this summer from Fluminense.
Richarlison has enjoyed a bright start to the Premier League but with Watford ready to tie down their man to a new contract, here are three other possibilities Chelsea can consider.
Lucas Moura
Lucas joined PSG after a lot of hype in the summer of 2012 after the French side lured the player with a mega-money move. He has gone on to make 229 appearances for the club and has scored 46 goals and created 50 more in those matches.
The big money signing was expected to become one of the best midfielders in the world but the little winger with an excellent dribbling skill is yet to live up to his potential.
PSG spend cover to £200 million in transfers this summer and are likely to list a host of big names on their selling list to balance the books. The arrival of Neymar, Mbappe, Draxler and Di Maria over the last two seasons has seen Lucas lose his first-team chances. With the Brazilian falling down the pecking order, a move for the winger could be possible in the January window. This might prompt Lucas to move to the West London club where he is likely to get a lot more game time.
Nicolas Gaitan
Gaitan, who made the move to Atletico last summer is reportedly frustrated at his lack of game time at the Spanish capital and is ready to swap teams in favour of more time on the pitch. In his one and a half year spell at the club, he has been unable to break into the first team let alone cement his spot.
Given the fact that another attacker in the form of Diego Costa has returned to action this January for Atletico Madrid, the situation for Gaitan might become even direr leaving Chelsea with a window of opportunity to snap up the player.
David Neres
The highly rated 20-year old player from South America has brilliantly adapted to Dutch football. Neres is incredibly light on his feet and has good enough ball control to cause any defence problems on his night.
The winger has been in blazing form this season and has already scored 9 goals and recorded 12 assists in 22 games and Chelsea could look to him if the club is serious about adding quality to their side.
