AC Milan forward Andre Silva has been subject to a failed bid from the Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers last week. The Portuguese forward has been in sensational form this season and has scored 8 goals and made 2 assists in 23 appearances for AC Milan in all competitions. The 22-year-old Portuguese international signed for the Serie A giants last summer following his rise to prominence in Portugal where he played in FC Porto’s youth ranks and broke into their senior team. The transfer was reported to be worth in the region of €38m plus performance-related bonuses.
The Portuguese striker has caught the eye with his dazzling displays in the Europa League which has seen him score 8 goals in 10 European appearances for the San Siro based outfit. Although, he is yet to score in the Serie A and has fallen behind in the pecking order to the likes of Nikola Kalinic and Patrick Cutrone. The Milan club are desperately trying to hang on to their prized asset in the ongoing transfer window and believes that Silva requires some more game time to settle into Italian football.
With the Wolves going all out in pursuit of the forward in January, let’s take a look at three Premier League clubs who can benefit from Silva’s talents this season.
Everton
The Toffees has recently signed Cenk Tosun from Besiktas but with the impending departure of Oumar Niasse on the cards, it might leave a hole in the Everton front line. A move for Silva could turn out to be good business for the club who are vying to bridge the gap between themselves and the top 6 of the Premier League. The Portuguese striker will be a perfect fit in Merseyside and a potential strike partnership between Tosun and Silva will be a mouth-watering prospect for the Toffees.
Newcastle United
The Magpies are in dire need of a striker this month after the likes of Dwight Gayle, Joselu and Ayoze Perez has been unable to put in a run of consistent performances this season. The possible departure of Aleksander Mitrovic could leave some space for a new addition and Silva fits the bill perfectly at Tyneside. Rafael Benitez might be the ideal man to nurture Andre Silva and get the best out of him for the Magpies.
Watford
The Hornets has been in a Premier League free-fall after making a good start to their campaign. It seems like they can’t buy a string of victories and are currently fighting for their lives in the top tier of English football. Marco Silva’s men need a goal-scorer who can lead the lines for the club and Andre Silva has the potential to fulfil that role for years to come. Although, it is highly unlikely that Watford would be able to compete for his services with his expensive price-tag being a major stumbling block. However, the Hornets can still benefit from a temporary loan deal for the Portuguese forward.
