Swansea City’s lofty expectations to sign Atletico Madrid striker, Kevin Gameiro might be ruled out with the club reluctant to sell him in the middle of the season. The Frenchman will also opt for a top-six club in the Premier League, not one who is struggling to survive in it.
This might come as a huge blow to Carlos Carvalhal but an expected result and the £25m asking price is too high anyway. But all is not lost with 14 games left in the league campaign and the Swan can take out some positives out of their impressive 1-0 win against Liverpool last night.
The strike force has failed to chip in on regular occasions with Wilfried Bony struggling to replicate his own lofty standards. Jordan Ayew has been their best offensive threat in recent weeks and the club should make another signing by the end of January to bolster their chances of escaping the relegation.
Lewis Grabban
Grabban has cut his loan spell with Sunderland short and has currently returned to his parent club, Bournemouth. His contract with the Cherries is set to end after another 18 months and multiple clubs are sniffing around for a transfer.
Grabban has been in prolific form this season before hitting an injury snag during the Christmas period. He has netted an impressive 12 goals in 20 appearances for the Black Cats this season and was the only attacking threat for the side. However, with the club now rotting at the bottom of EFL Championship table, his decision to opt out of the club always deemed likely.
Benik Afobe
The striker has started only 5 times in the league for the Cherries this season and has registered just one goal. With Afobe’s contract set to end in the summer of 2020, Bournemouth are looking to bargain out a transfer deal to reinvest towards their own needs.
Afobe can make a huge impact for a side who are also failing to find the back of the net on regular occasions.
The striker stands 6 feet tall and has the technical ability to hold up the ball and link up with the rest of his teammates. He also possesses the speed and agility to beat defenders on the run, but lacks the ultimate crucial attribute – an eye for goal.
Moussa Dembele
He finished the previous season with 32 goals in 49 appearances and cemented himself as one of the hottest European talents. But a few bouts of injury has slowed him down this season and the Celtics are ready to cash in on him while his value is still high in the transfer market.
He is a future superstar and is eager to quit the Scottish outfit.
