Wolverhampton Wanderers will travel to Suffolk to take on Ipswich Town at Portman Road in the English Championship on Saturday. Nuno Espírito Santo’s men are winless in their last four outings in domestic competitions and have suffered back to back defeats at the hands of Swansea City in the FA Cup third round and Nottingham Forest in the league. The Portuguese manager needs to turn their fortunes for the better soon and not get complacent in the coming weeks in pursuit of the league title this season. The Wolves are currently leading the Championship by 9 points while their opponents Ipswich Town find themselves in 12th place in the league table, six points behind a playoff spot.
The recent history of the fixture slightly favours the visitors as Wolves has won their last meeting with the Tractor Boys earlier this season in December 2017. Although, both teams drew five matches in a row in their previous five meetings prior to that result. Nuno Espirito Santo is expected to opt for a 3-4-3 formation and may look to hand his teenage wonderkid Morgan Gibbs-White a rare start in the league versus Ipswich following his impressive cameo in the second half of their league fixture against Nottingham Forest last week.
3-4-3 Wolves Predicted Lineup To Face Ipswich Town
Defence
John Ruddy will start in goal for the Wolves and might be protected by a back three of Ryan Bennett, Conor Coady and Willy Boly. Nuno Espirito Santo’s backline has conceded two goals each in their last two outings. The Portuguese boss will be hoping that his defenders can put in an improved showing away at Ipswich Town on Saturday.
Midfield
The duo of Romain Saiss and Morgan Gibbs-White could line up at the centre of the park for the Wolves with Barry Douglas operating on the left side of the midfield while Matt Doherty tries to cause some damage to the Tractor Boys’ defenders on the right flank.
Both Douglas and Doherty will look to put in an improved display after they were subbed off at half-time during their home defeat to Nottingham Forest last weekend.
Attack
The trio of Ivan Cavaleiro, Lohner Leo Bonatini and Diogo Jose Jota is expected to start in the Wolves’ frontlines. They have scored 31 goals and made 15 assists in between them this season and would once again be responsible to make the difference against Ipswich Town away at Portman Road on Saturday.
