Chelsea’s Charly Musonda is set for a loan spell at Scottish Premiership club Celtic and has reportedly arrived at the Celtic Park for his medical. The 21-year-old has registered just 664 minutes of game time this season and is way below the pecking order behind the likes of Eden Hazard, Willian and Pedro. This is hindering his development and a spell away from Stamford Bridge will only help him grow into the star he has shown promise of.

Musonda returned to the Bridge last January after spending the first half of 2016/17 season with La Liga outfit, Real Betis. The Belgian dazzled the crowd with his bag of skills and a scintillating turn of pace from the wide areas. Portraying a game very similar to the early days of Cristiano Ronaldo, Musonda has been earmarked to be a future starter in Chelsea ranks.
However, he can only develop by playing regularly against elite competition, something he has not received under Antonio Conte. Musonda is a winger by trade but can appear centrally in the attacking midfield role as well. Standing at 5 feet 8 inches, his balance and agility paired with remarkable technical abilities allow the starlet to weave his way through the defence and drill in balls from the flanks – an integral part of any offence in the modern game.
His arrival to Celtic Park will obviously come as a huge boost to the Hoops who are poised to win their 7th consecutive league title. Brendan Rodgers is quite flexible with his team selection and has provided youngsters with an opportunity to prove themselves – take Moussa Dembele for example.
The former Liverpool manager prefers to field his team in the 4-2-3-1 formation. Taking the same setup here is how the strongest Celtic side will lineup in the near future.
Defence
Craig Gordon has been the first choice keeper ahead of Dorus de Vries but unfortunately went down with a serious knee injury against Hibernian last night. For the time being, de Vries will have to do before Rodgers finds a replacement.
Gordon works best with the centre-back pairing of Dedryck Boyata and Joza Simunovic in front of him. Kristoffer Ajer has been impressive for the Celts this season both as a centre-back and on the right flank. He should find himself fielded on the right with Kieran Tierney on the left.
Midfield
Olivier Ntcham and Scott Brown are the perfect combinations of experience and youthful resilience in the holding midfield role. Callum McGregor gets the job done in the attacking midfield position and can now have Charly Musonda next to him on the right.
Scott Sinclair’s usual position is on the left wing.
Attack
Leigh Griffiths went down to a calf injury in the last fixture and Moussa Dembele is expected to replace him in the number nine role.
