Wolverhampton Wanderers have agreed on a new deal for their teenage starlet Morgan Gibbs-White. According to recent reports in the English press, the England Under-17 midfielder was subject to speculation linking him with a move to Tottenham Hotspur recently but has been handed a fresh professional contract at the club on his 18th birthday. The English Championship leaders have successfully fend off stiff competition from the Premier League heavyweights to secure the youngster’s signature on a new long-term deal. The 18-year-old midfielder was recently crowned as a world champion in India last year.
His rapid development at the Molineux Stadium has sparked interest from the north London duo of Tottenham and Arsenal, with his potential suitors expecting him to take the next step up to the Premier League. Gibbs-White’s previous contract with Wolves would have expired at the end of next season, in 2019, but he has now penned a long-term contract with the club which will keep him at the club for the near future.
He made his debut for Nuno Espírito Santo’s side in January versus Stoke City in the League Cup and has also featured in the Championship. He has made 5 appearances for the Wolves this season and has provided one assist in all competitions. With his future sorted at the West Midlands outfit, let’s take a look at three potential alternatives for Mauricio Pochettino to consider.
James Maddison
The 21-year-old former Aberdeen winger put in some brilliant displays during his time at the Pittodrie Stadium and scored a famous winner versus Rangers when he smashed in a last-gasp goal to bag all three points for his side. The Coventry born midfielder has been in impressive form for Norwich City this season. He has scored 7 goals and made 8 assists in 28 matches for the Canaries in all competitions this term. Maddison has the makings of a great player and Spurs can certainly look to utilise him for years to come if they make a move for him in the near future.
Yacine Adli
The 17-year-old Paris Saint-Germain youngster is destined for great things and has also started to impress while playing in the young ranks for the Parisian club. He has made 9 appearances in the UEFA Youth League and has scored once while providing one assist this season. He could be developed into a future superstar under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs if they decide to opt for his signature.
Vincent Thill
The 17-year-old FC Metz has caught the eye with his performances this season. He has already made his Ligue 1 debut for the senior team and has immense potential. Tottenham could look to pounce on his signature in the near future and nurture him into a top talent in the coming years.
