Wolverhampton Wanderers have agreed to a new contract for their teenage wonderkid Morgan Gibbs-White. According to recent reports in the English media, the England Under-17 midfielder was tipped to make a switch to Liverpool recently but has been handed a new deal at the West Midlands club on his 18th birthday. The Skybet Championship leaders were successful in fending off strong competition from the Premier League giants to secure the starlet’s signature on a new long-term contract. The 18-year-old youngster was recently crowned as a world champion in India.
His continuing development at the Molineux Stadium has given rise to interest from the north London duo of Tottenham and Arsenal as well as the Merseyside outfit, with his potential suitors expecting him to make the next big step up to the Premier League in the near future. Gibbs-White’s previous deal with Wolves would have run out at the end of the next campaign, in 2019, but he has now signed a new contract with the West Midlands outfit which will keep him at the club for a long term.
He made his debut for Nuno Espírito Santo’s team in January in a match against Stoke City in the League Cup and has also played a match in the Championship. He has featured in 5 matches for the Wolves this season and has created one assist across all competitions so far. With his future sorted at the West Midlands club and a move to Liverpool looking unlikely, let’s take a look at three alternative options for Jurgen Klopp to consider.
Yacine Adli
The 17-year-old Paris Saint-Germain starlet is destined for greatness and has already started to catch the eye with his performances while featuring in the youth ranks of the Parisian club. He has taken part in 9 matches in the UEFA Youth League and has scored once while creating another in this campaign. He could undoubtedly be nurtured into a future superstar under the stewardship of Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool if they manage to secure his signature this month.
Vincent Thill
The 17-year-old FC Metz talent has put in some excellent displays this season. He has already made his Ligue 1 debut for the FC Metz senior team and has a lot of potential to become a star in the future. The Reds could look to pounce upon his signature and develop him into a top talent in the coming seasons.
James Maddison
The 21-year-old former Aberdeen attacking talent has put in some brilliant displays during his time at the Pittodrie Stadium and scored a famous winner against Rangers when he popped up with a last-gasp goal to earn all three points for his side. The Coventry born winger has been in sensational form for Norwich City this term. He has found the back of the net 9 times and made 8 assists in 32 matches for the Canaries across all competitions this season. Maddison has the makings of a very talented player and the Reds can certainly look to make use of his services in the coming years if they opt to sign him up.
