Premier League clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Everton have joined the race for the services of Hamburg wunderkind Jann-Fiete Arp. The 17-year-old striker has been regarded as one of the best teenage footballers in Europe and surely one of the hottest prospects playing in the Bundesliga this season.
Tottenham had been monitoring the progress of the Hamburg forward for a few months now. According to reports, the Lilywhites could be tempted to make a move for the youngster in the summer transfer window.
Young striker Arp has broken quite a few records in the Bundesliga this season. He came the first player born in 2000, in the history, to have started and then scored in a Bundesliga match. Furthermore, he has also become a key player for the team even at this young age, scoring two goals in eight matches.
The German youth International was an absolute star in the German youth divisions. He scored 21 goals in 26 games for Hamburg’s U17 team last season and has followed that up with a similarly impressive tally of seven goals in just three games this season.
Lots of Premier League’s big guns are also vying for his signature with Chelsea being the most interested club. Manchester City and Arsenal have also made their interest known, of late. It clearly suggests that there could be a huge transfer battle in the upcoming transfer window, with Everton and Tottenham Hotspur joining the race.
Jann-Fiete Arp could be a great addition to Tottenham Hotspur, in particular. In fact, the London giants could well be the only club who could make the most out of Germany’s teenage sensation. Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino has a great reputation of expertly nurturing young talents with players like Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Eric Dier being the obvious beneficiaries.
Spurs, however, have lost their rhythm, of late and could face a serious problem of holding on to star players such as Dele Alli and Harry Kane over the summer. Therefore, the Lilywhites will be desperate to sign someone who can prove to be a long-term solution for those respective stars.
Although Jann Fiete Arp may not be a Harry Kane nor a Dele Alli, the youngster has shown terrific talent in recent weeks and should he continue his incredible growth throughout the rest of the season, he would make a strong case for being snapped up by the London giants next summer.
