Mauricio Pochettino’s men have pegged back once again as they failed to take all 3 points at Vicarage Road. After going behind in the 13th minute to a brilliant header from Kabasele, Son levelled things up following Eriksen’s brilliant cross. As the Lilywhites pushed for the winner, Sanchez dented their hopes as he was sent off for a horrible elbow at Richarlison in the 52nd minute.
The draw takes them out of the top four and a mammoth 15 points behind the league leaders Manchester City. Let us take a look at the player ratings of Tottenham Hotspurs.
Hugo Lloris (6):
Could do absolutely nothing to stop Kabasele’s header that put the hosts in the lead. Had to make just one save apart from that.
Davinson Sanchez (3):
A night to forget for the Tottenham’s Colombian ace. Sent off for a horrendous elbow at Richarlison that spoilt the push for a winner.
Jan Vertonghen (5):
Was clinical on the ball for the majority of the game but was soon left exposed and shaky following his partner’s sending off.
Kieran Trippier (7):
Possibly on the best players on the pitch for Tottenham today. He was a constant threat on the right flank making overlapping runs whilst sticking to his defensive duties.
Ben Davies (6):
The Welshman had a quiet game tonight. Did not pose much of an attacking threat like his fellow full back. Was clinical when on the ball and played some good passes.
Eric Dier (5):
A disappointing performance as he failed to supplement his defence when needed. Had a better game when he slotted into the centre back position after Sanchez’s sending off. Lucky to have gotten away with a handball in the box that could have resulted in a loss for Tottenham.
Moussa Dembélé (5):
His usual dominant presence at the heart of midfield was very much missing from his performance tonight. Failed to create chances for his front-runners to pounce on.
Christian Eriksen (6):
Apart from the assist for Son’s equalizer, his game was extremely paltry in terms of contribution made both offensively and defensively. His passing was too wavered as he failed to locate his man many a times.
Dele Alli (5):
A tough game for the Englishman as he failed to cope with the physicality of the Watford defenders. Did well to run up-field with the ball but could not quite create the openings.
Heung-Min Son (6):
Pulled things back following Eriksen’s cross that was put on a plate. Exhibited his energy in the first half but soon faded away as Tottenham went down a man. The sending off seemed to have affected the entire team.
Harry Kane (5):
Not the game that he would have hoped for. Could not find a clear sight on goal the entire game as the Watford defenders did well to keep him quiet. Perhaps the pressure of carrying the team single handedly with his goal is getting to him.
Substitutes:
Moussa Sissoko (6):
Came on in the 64th minute for Eriksen. Did his best to drive the team forward while playing on the counter in the second half.
Erik Lamela (NA):
Harry Winks (NA):
Very little participation to earn a rating.
