Belgian star Eden Hazard is easily one of the best playmakers in the game at the moment and stands as one of the most important players for English Champions Chelsea this season. He has 60 goals and 44 assists in 185 PL appearances in just over five seasons at the club and has helped the Blues to two domestic titles in his time at the club.
This makes him one of the most exciting players in Europe and it does not come as a surprise that European Champions Real Madrid are hot on his heels, for a move at the end of the season.
Reports from a Spanish news outfit claim that Zinedine Zidane, whose side are eight points behind Barcelona in the La Liga table, 14 games into the season, is desperate for the services of the Belgian star and is ready to offer what it takes to land him at the end of the season.
The reports goes on to claim that Real Madrid are ready to offer Spanish starlet Marco Asensio as a part of the deal to land Hazard. It is understood that Hazard himself is interested in a move to Bernabeu and has been in constant contact with the French manager in Spain. So should Chelsea accept Asensio as a part of the deal to sell Hazard?
21-year old Asensio broke into the first team under Zidane last season, picking up 10 goals and four assists in all competitions. In the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo, he was a regular in the squad at the start of the current season, and has seven goals and two assists already this season.
A versatile player who can play anywhere across the front line, Asensio is easily one of the most exciting youngsters going around at the moment and is one of the few players that can replace Hazard’s creativity. The Spaniard has been effective in almost every big clash that he has played in the White of Madrid and could easily replicate what Hazard at done at the Bridge in all those years.
But at 26, the Belgian ace is only nearing his best time as a footballer and losing him, with two years left on his contract, could be a huge blow for the Blues.
Asensio or not, Chelsea cannot afford to lose their talisman anytime soon and should do all it takes to keep him at the club beyond the next summer. However, if Hazard himself is ready for the switch, Asensio is the best they can get in return, and this is a deal that should keep Conte happy.
