Real Madrid are finding it hard to reduce the gap over their arch-rivals Barcelona at the top of the La Liga table this season. They are still 8 points off the league leaders and will have to turn things around quickly if they are to fight for the title.
Zinedine Zidane was rather subdued in the transfer market in the summer and decided not to add any star players to his lineup. He did sign a few exciting youngsters, who are already impressing but he also sold a couple of first-team players, which is now haunting him.
Los Blancos still have decent quality at their disposal but injuries and lack of form have held them back constantly and it is clear that Zidane will break the bank for a European star, come to the end of the season.
The likes of Eden Hazard, Dele Alli, Harry Kane and even Philippe Coutinho have all been on the radar of the Spanish outfit but one player Florentino Perez has decided to spend on is Juventus star, Paulo Dybala.
A transfer target for the La Liga outfit even in the summer, Dybala is currently one of the best playmakers in the sport and has been in fine form in Serie A this season, picking up 12 goals and three assists in 15 domestic appearances. He is an integral part of the squad under Max Allegri and is not expected to be sold anytime soon.
He only signed a contract last season, which will keep him at the club till 2022 but reports today suggest that Real Madrid will make a bid for him in the summer transfer window and are desperate to sign him.
The Juventus hierarchy might now be forced into offering him a new deal to fend off such interests but if they decide that it is against their club’s policy to offer him insane wages, Real might have a free route to signing him.
Currently, at the Bernabeu, the likes of Marco Asensio, Lucas Vasquez, Isco, Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema are all options in attack for Zidane this season. Bale and Benzema seem out of form while Ronaldo soon needs a long-term replacement.
Dybala solves not just those problems but is also an upgrade on the likes of Asensio and Vasquez and is a player who belongs at the home of the European champions.
He is settled in Turin and will not be easy to lure away but the Argentine international is one player who can help Real Madrid establish themselves as a superpower yet again next season. So do you think they should go all in for him?
