It is no secret that Manchester United are very vulnerable in the left back position, with Jose Mourinho eagerly looking for proven talents to take up the spot immediately.
Currently, Ashely Young has been implemented to the left with Daley Blind and Luke Shaw as possible options behind him. Although the 32-year-old has impressed under his new role for the club, he still does not possess the key components of an elite left-back – a strong left foot and defensive ability.
Shaw has been linked to a possible move out of the club after failing to make an impact for the Red Devils ever since his £27 million move from Southampton. Daley Blind, on the other hand, has not yet adjusted to the pace of the English game mostly being placed in the centre back position behind the likes of Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo.
Matteo Darmian has also failed to feature for the side under Jose Mourinho and might be offloaded in the future.
Reports claim, that Mourinho will launch a bid for Juventus full-back, Alex Sandro. The Brazilian has been linked to a move away from the club ever since the summer of 2017. He is eager for an exit and was projected to end up in Chelsea before the season started.
Antonio Conte struggled to obtain the 26-year old’s services after facing restrictions from the club’s board. Still a heavy favourite to land Sandro, Manchester United might swoop in on the deal with a higher bid.
Alex Sandro moved to Juventus on a 5-year contract from FC Porto in 2015 and has won 2 Serie A and 2 Coppa Italia titles with the club. He was instrumental in the sides 3-4-2-1 formation under Massimiliano Allegri for the past 2 seasons.
Operating from the left like an engine, Sandro possesses an abundance of skill with the ball, which can be associated to his Brazilian roots. He has immense talent both offensively and defensively and is one of the best replacements for Marcelo in the national team. Netting the ball on 6 occasions, Sandro has registered 16 assists to his name for the Italian giants.
Manchester United are currently sitting 8 points behind league leaders and rivals Manchester City. They are well stocked in the wide positions with Valencia operating from the right. If they do end up winning the transfer battle for the Brazilian, they will be a force to reckon with.
Mourinho is also pursuing Tottenham left-back, Danny Rose with a £50 million move in January. If both options do open up, he might be ready to splash more money and choose the Brazilian over him.
