On A Roll! That is probably the most appropriate term to describe the form Manchester City are currently in at the present moment. Leading the second positioned team, derby rivals Manchester United by 11 points in the league table, the “incredible” Citizens are looking very much set to extend their 16 games unbeaten run till the end of the season.
With all the players in probably their best form, the two times Premier League winners are on the lookout to bring in some more players into the side to make their lead at the top of the ladder unassailable. Reportedly, the Citizens are in for a swoop to bring in probably the best English striker at the present moment, Harry Kane and might table an audacious bid to secure the services of the Premier League’s top scorer from the last two seasons in the near future.
The Citizens already have two of the best strikers in European football in contemporary times in the form of Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero. The Brazilian and Argentine forwards have proved their worth to the last penny this season and have notched up 18 goals so far this season, which sums up to 32% of the total goals scored by Manchester City so far.
However, speculations are rife that their manager Pep Guardiola is taking interest in adding one more striker to the side and is eyeing one of the top strikers in English football in the form of Harry Kane. The Tottenham Hotspur striker is maintaining his form from the last two seasons and is giving tough competition to Mohamed Salah, the current top scorer in the Premier League with 14 goals, having netted the ball 12 times and willing to hang onto his crown for another season.
The North London club, however, will evidently not look to let go of their star forward. The presence of a player like Kane in their frontline has helped them to finish in the top four in the last few seasons and has established them as genuine contenders to challenge the big name clubs in the pursuit of the highest glory in the Premier League.
For the 26-year-old Englishman as well, it might not be the right move to make in the current situation, as it will be difficult for him to make it into the first eleven in every match with two well-set strikers already present in the ranks for Manchester City.
Guardiola seems to be a believer in rotational policy, which saw the main pillar in the City midfield, David Silva, not even present on the bench for their last encounter against Tottenham, which they won in emphatic style by 4-1. Going by that, a place in the first team squad for Kane might also not be available on a regular basis, in case he makes the move to Manchester City in the near future.
