Manchester City had the perfect start to this season as Pep Guardiola’s side has been on an excellent run. No other teams have been able to catch them as they have been pretty ruthless on their way to the top.
Guardiola had a barren run last season as despite his several attempts City failed to set the pace with the other biggies. But this season he has been pretty adamant to put things into places and City underwent a quite busy summer transfer window bringing the likes of Kyle Walker and Bernardo Silva.
The attack seems to be their main resource this term as they have been bamboozling their opponent by bringing them down with their organized and composed football but the defence has been leaky to some extent and Guardiola wants to seal the damage.
According to reports, Man City are looking to bring Sime Vrsaljko from Atletico Madrid. The right-back has been at the club since 2016 but has fallen in the pecking order with Juanfran being the first choice for Atleti.
He has gone frustrated with lack of game time and reportedly has made his intentions clear to the club that he wants to leave. Manchester City are pretty well stocked in the fullback section at the moment but it seems Guardiola doesn’t want to take a chance with City leading the title race at the moment.
No teams have been able to be a hindrance to their smooth run as the gaffer is trying to build on the back of a very successful start. The Sky Blues are yet to lose a match in the Premier League and have been pretty ruthless so far.
Napoli are also tracking the movement of the Atletico defender and might make an approach in January. The 25-year-old had been a regular for Sassuolo but failed to replicate the same number at the Spanish club.
Diego Simeone insisted the club need the player and Vrsaljko is very important for them. “Sime is a big player and all big players have a value.
“We are happy when other clubs look at our players, this is normal and it is positive for us.”
Guardiola currently has Kyle Walker who became the most costly English defender when he arrived at the Etihad Stadium this summer. Danilo can also fill in the right back position so it becomes a bit surprising why Guardiola has been rooting for another right back.
