Manchester City travelled to the Liberty Stadium to face Swansea City at the back of crucial victory in the Manchester derby. The Citizens started the match 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League standings and were looking to extend their lead even more.
The Manchester club began the match on the front foot and scored the opener through a David Silva striker. Kevin De Bruyne doubled City’s lead from a free-kick as the Blues of Manchester went into half-time 2-0 up. The second half began with City scoring another goal through David Silva which killed off the contest. Sergio Aguero scored a goal late on to seal another emphatic win for the Manchester club.
Let’s see how each Manchester City player fared during the match.
GK: Ederson – 7/10
The Brazilian pulled off a remarkable save from a shot which deflected off his own defender Delph. He passed the ball well and had a good match.
RB: Danilo – 8/10
The best performance in a City shirt for the Brazilian. He was outstanding going forward and linking up play. The right-back did well defensively as well.
CB: Eliaquim Mangala – 6/10
A no-nonsense performance from the City defender. He did the little things right and that was enough to keep a clean sheet.
CB: Nicolás Otamendi – 6/10
The Argentine was unlucky not to score for the third match in a row. He looked assured defensively and did his job at the heart of the Man City defence.
LB: Fabian Delph – 8/10
After a poor showing in the Manchester derby, he recovered well and put in a solid display against the Swans.
CM: Kevin De Bruyne – 8/10
The Belgian scored an excellent free-kick and pulled the strings really well from the midfield. He displayed a whole array of passes, tricks and flicks.
CM: Fernandinho – 7/10
The Brazilian did his job well while shielding their back four. He was a tireless runner in the middle of the park and deserved a rest in the second half.
CAM: David Silva – 9/10
The Spanish playmaker scored two goals which helped Manchester City keep their 11 point lead at the top intact. His finishing has improved recently and it’s showing on his goal tally.
RM: Raheem Sterling – 7/10
The winger used his pace on the flanks well and is a nightmare to defend against. He had a good game linking up in some of the goals and also earning the freekick which led to the De Bruyne goal.
ST: Sergio Aguero – 7/10
The Argentine needed a goal to give his confidence a boost and he did exactly that against the Swans.
LM: Bernardo Silva – 8/10
He put in a great cameo in the first half and delivered a magnificent cross for the David Silva opener. He’s slowly starting to justify his £43m price-tag.
Substitutes:
CM: Yaya Toure – 6/10
The Ivorian came on when the match was already one and a stroll in the park.
LB: Aleks Zinchenko – 6/10
He came off the bench but did little to contribute to the game other than attempting some wild shots.
CM: Ilkay Gundogan – 6/10
He came on to ensure that the points were in the bag.
