Liverpool are reportedly interested in West Ham United youngster, Domingos Quina. The Portuguese U-20 player joined West Ham in May 2016 with an expectation of signing a contract into the senior team. He primarily spent his time developing his game in the Benfica academy and then Chelsea, before joining with the Hammers.
West Ham are currently in the 15th spot of the points table and contesting hard to stay out of the relegation zone. The Hammers started the season poorly, but after the appointment of David Moyes, things might just have started to turn around for them. His first game against Chelsea saw the side win 1-0 at home. Moyes’ men were impressive in their weekend fixture against Stoke City and dominated the game with a 0-3 win.
Their impressive run of form can be attributed to a fresh energy and simplified footballing structure Moyes has brought to the club. With his eyes set on finishing in the top half of the table by the end of the season, he will be utilising every resource available to him. However, the prospects of Quina might not flourish in the current scenario.
Quina has so far made only 4 senior appearances for the club, none of them as a starter. With immense talent and an eagerness to find game time he is ready to make a change in his career and grow into the player he is capable of.
The Portugal football association also had faced interest from the English national organization who were ready to introduce the midfielder into their junior squad.
West Ham are reportedly interested in hearing offers from other clubs over the services of Quina this January. The best offer would be to send the 18-year-old out on loan for the remainder of the season with a buyback option.
Jurgen Klopp is a manager who always promotes young talent from within the club ranks. If he has raised genuine interest in Quina, the Portuguese can hope to find what he is looking for at Anfield.
With Emre Can linked to a move away from the club, and new signing Naby Keita arriving after the end of the current season. Klopp needs depth from the bench in the midfield position. Georgina Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson are Klopp’s first choices with not many other options to cover the midfield.
After progressing to the Champions League knockout stages and facing heavy competition within the Premier League to acquire a top 4 spot by the end of the season, Liverpool will depth and quality to successfully end their campaign. Maybe Quina will be a perfect addition to the Liverpool squad.
