Liverpool are ready to make a move for Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gabon international is set to depart the Bundesliga club in January after a series of controversial incidents following Borussia Dortmund’s rejection of his official transfer request in the summer. Some sources are claiming that the Reds are monitoring his situation and are planning to make a bid when the transfer window opens in January.
The striker has been in red-hot form for the Bundesliga outfit and has scored 17 goals in 19 appearances so far this season. Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is reportedly interested and has put the Gabon international on his wanted list but a reunion with Jurgen Klopp seems likely with the German manager eager to bring him to the Premier League.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been through some issues with his conduct and was suspended by Dortmund for arriving late in training earlier in the campaign.
He was also sent off in their match against FC Schalke 04 last weekend which has escalated his problems with the club. Dortmund were 4-0 up but following his dismissal, FC Schalke 04 made a remarkable comeback and secured a 4-4 draw. It seems highly likely that he will finally get his wish of departing the Bundesliga in the near future.
The Reds are expected to make a few signings in January to improve their chances of qualifying in the top four and also, make a good run in the Champions League. For now, defensive reinforcements remain a priority for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool but with striker Daniel Sturridge set to leave in January, finding a suitable replacement for him also needs to be addressed. The Merseysiders could lose their English striker to AC Milan as Sturridge is looking to improve his chances of making it to Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the World Cup.
Liverpool are currently fourth in the Premier League standings and have been in terrific form of late. The Reds have scored 33 goals in 15 Premier League matches and could bolster their attack by adding the 17 goal Gabon international. With Aubameyang in the starting eleven, Jurgen Klopp’s Red Army would possess an attack which would cause fear in the hearts of their opponents as they strive to bag some silverware this season.
Some reports have also claimed that Jurgen Klopp is looking to sign a goalkeeper and a defender as well in the January transfer window with Southampton’s Virgil Van Dijk still on top of his wish-list.
