It might be an on and off season for Manchester United but Scott McTominay is enjoying every bit of it. The 21-year-old has bloomed rapidly and has been heralded pretty well at the club.
McTominay entered the foray at the start of the season and has been handed a number of chances to showcase his talent. The midfielder’s performance in the middle of the park earned him many accolades and he also went on to sign a new four-year contract to extend his stay at the Old Trafford.
But his lack of game time hasn’t gone unnoticed and a number of clubs are looking to bring him to their side. According to reports, Leeds United are considering a move for the midfielder in January.
The Yorkshire side are still very much in the race for a spot in the Championship playoffs and Christiansen would need some fresh impetus to have a better shot in the next half of the Premier League.
Leeds have bettered their performance off late and Christiansen would be hoping to maintain their run. The Whites already have Cameron Borthwick-Jackson on loan from the Manchester-based outfit and it seems they are looking for some reinforcement from their archrivals.
At United, the midfield situation is a bit haphazard at this moment. There are significant fitness concerns regarding Michael Carrick’s health while Marouane Fellaini turned down the chance of renewing his stay at Old Trafford.
So there are enough reasons for Mourinho to keep him at the club and his future looks sorted at this moment. The 21-year-old had a quite good time on the pitch as he featured in some crucial matches including a full ninety minutes against Benfica in the Champions League.
Alongside Leeds, there are few other Championship clubs with the likes of Preston North End and Bolton Wanderers. Preston are also pushing for a place in the Playoffs so they would be able to provide the game time that McTominay craves.
Competition in the Leeds midfield is pretty intense with Kalvin Phillips, Ronaldo Vieira, Eunan O’Kane and Mateusz Klich are all vying for a place in the starting lineup but Christiansen is looking for some fresh pair of legs to ease the burden ahead of a very gruesome fixture.
McTominay has been with the club since he was five and came through the United academy. He is the one who is tipped to be a flag bearer in near future for the Red Devils.
