After winning 4 Championship games on the trot, Leeds United’s winning run came to an end after they were defeated by Birmingham City on Saturday. Jaques Maghoma’s strike late into the second half proved to be the only goal of the match at St. Andrew’s Stadium and it goes without saying that Thomas Christiansen would be saddened to see his not being able to score past the side which is placed rock-bottom in the league standings.
Leeds United are placed at the 5th spot in the league table with 42 points to their name after 25 games and considering that they are one of the sides which would look to get uplifted to the Promised Land of the Premier League, they would certainly need to get reinforcements in the January transfer window. One of the areas they particularly need to strengthen is the attacking zone, as there is an apparent lack of substantial firepower up front.
As per one of the latest reports put forth by the Daily Star, the Yorkshire-based outfit are in the stage of negotiations in order to lure Norwegian sensation, Abdul Basit Agouda, to the Elland Road. Agouda currently plies his trade for Norwegian outfit, Stromsgodset but he has refused to sign a new contract with his current employers. His deal expires today and thus, Leeds United can contact him and pan out a deal to make him sign on the dotted line to beef up their attacking arsenal.
The 18-year-old is a blossoming youngster and possesses immense calibre and potential and has been compared to the legendary striker, Samuel Eto’o, time and again. Agouda joined Stromsgodset from Skeid and has been receiving rave reviews in Norway.
He operates with notable skills and has been learning and developing himself in a spectacular fashion. He has raw pace in his legs and is quite ruthless up front. Besides, he times his runs perfectly and is adequately mobile, which makes him a decent youngster.
One of the things which the Peacocks would be concerned about is his lack of experience of competitive football. English football is known for the animosity which it offers and there would certainly be chances of his failure to cope up with the same. Nonetheless, he is young and will learn in the coming days. Besides, considering that Leeds United would be able to sign him for free, with only training compensation to be paid, he could be a good signing for them.
