Paris Saint-Germain are preparing an offer for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez when the transfer window commences in January. According to recent sources, the Parisian club are ready to launch a £25m bid to secure the services of the Chilean star amidst interest from Manchester City. It is being reported that the forward’s representatives attended meetings in Paris last week and the French giants reckon that they can sort a deal out quickly for Sanchez, who has six months left in his Arsenal contract.
Premier League leaders Manchester City had their £60m summer offer rejected by the Gunners in August and are also set to compete with Paris Saint-Germain in what is expected to be a cut-price deal for the forward in January.
However, a source in the English press claims that the 29-year-old has made up his mind about joining the Citizens of Manchester and if Pep Guardiola is able to pen a deal with the player next month, the Chilean would not be cup-tied to take part in the Champions League knockout stages for City. This makes it an ideal proposition for the league leaders to get the player early before his Arsenal contract expires at the end of the season.
Arsenal manager has already admitted that he might have to sell one of his stars with both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil set to run out their respective contracts and leave the North Londoners at the end of the season. The Chilean international has scored 5 goals and made 4 assists in 17 appearances for the Gunners this season. He also has earned 115 international caps for Chile and netted 38 times for his country. However, the 29-year-old failed in his attempts to make Chile qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup which means that the star forward can fully rest in the summer and come back stronger next season for whichever club he opts to play for.
Paris Saint-Germain are spoilt for choice when it comes to attacking options. They might have to sell before they can make any new expensive additions. The Paris club are apparently ready to sell their Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani to make way for Sanchez in January. Although Cavani has been more prolific this season scoring 24 goals in 25 games for the club, it is likely that his relationship with other players and his manager Unai Emery might be a bit fragile following the controversy surrounding his desire to take a penalty for the club over Neymar in their match against Troyes last month.
So it is no wonder that Sanchez is being lined up in an effort to keep the players happy in Paris by Unai Emery. It remains to be seen whether they can fend off competition from Manchester in pursuit of the Chilean’s signature.
