Huddersfield Town are lining up a move for Newcastle United winger Rolando Aarons. It is being reported that the Terriers want to secure the services of the 22-year-old and are one of the three clubs interested in the player who is struggling to get enough game-time at St. James Park. Crystal Palace and Aston Villa are the other two candidates who are keeping an eye on the winger to save him from life in the Newcastle sidelines.
The English midfielder broke into the Magpies’ first-team in pre-season following a battle with a recurring hamstring injury but has failed to feature lately after being fit all season. Aarons had a strong pre-season and put in a man of the match display for the Magpies in their EFL Cup tie versus Nottingham Forest back in August. However, he has failed to feature since then and was excluded from Newcastle’s matchday squad which took on Chelsea earlier this month.
The 22-year-old has great pace, can dribble with the ball and put in some good crosses into the box which Huddersfield Town can make use of. He is very similar to the Terriers’ Tom Ince and might be in direct competition with the player for a place in the David Wagner’s first team. Ince has failed to impress so far and is yet to score in this campaign for the Yorkshire club.
Huddersfield Town are currently struggling to score enough goals in the Premier League and sit in 12th place in the league table. They have just managed to score 11 goals in 16 league matches this season. The Terriers will be hoping to bring in reinforcements next month as they look to avoid relegation at all costs in the second half of the campaign. And one of these players can be Rolando Aarons who has the potential to add some quality to their attack if they manage to recruit the player.
The left-footed winger has made seven appearances for the Magpies this season and has scored 2 goals and made one assist. Aarons is in desperate need to experience first-team football. This season has promised so much but delivered so little to him so far. The Terriers can be an ideal destination for him to develop and fulfil his immense potential. Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner is known to make full use of his young stars and he can provide Aarons with a lifeline in Yorkshire.
It remains to be seen whether the Terriers are successful in their attempts to secure his signature in January.
