Celtic striker, Moussa Dembele has been linked to Premier League side, Everton for a possible transfer in January. Sam Allardyce have stated previously that he is on the hunt for a striker to take the goal scoring pressure off of veteran goalscorer, Wayne Rooney.
Rooney is the highest goalscorer for the Toffees this season with 11 and has been their best-attacking threat ever since he moved to Goodison Park from Manchester United in the summer. However, Allardyce wants to sustain the striker’s run of form by preventing any injury.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has also been impressive for the side at a young age of just 20. Although promising, his finishing ability still needs a bit of polishing with just 2 goals in 17 appearances.
Dembele is certainly not short in that department with 8 goals already for The Hoops in their current campaign. The 21-year-old moved to the Scottish outfit in the summer of 2016 from EFL Championship side, Fulham on a four-year contract. He finished the previous season with 32 goals in 49 appearances and cemented himself as one of the hottest European talents.
But a few bouts of injury has slowed him down this season with the club ready to cash in on him while his value is still high in the transfer market.
Dembele is quick and uses that trait to great effect to pop up in the right spots and constantly keeps opposing defenders on their toes. Also possessing a terrific leap, the Pontoise-born forward has been as big a threat in the air as he has been on the ground and has showcased the all-around ability to become one of the most dreaded strikers in Europe.
He also possesses the technical ability to link up with teammates in the final third and find a man in a better scoring position than him.
The Frenchman is in the current U-21 National team with 10 caps and 7 goals already. He is valued at the £26-£27m range, which is surprising in the current economy where teenagers are getting transferred for astronomical prices. The Scottish Premierships might not be an elite league in Europe in terms of viewership but it still promotes gruelling competition and develops a lot of proven talents. Virgil van Dijk, Victor Wanyama and Alan Hutton – just to name a few.
Dembele can be the perfect addition to the Everton lineup to face the remainder of the season with the talents of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Rooney behind him.
However, according to reporter Kaveh Solhekol, Brighton & Hove Albion have already settled on a £18m bid with Celtic for the striker.
