Everton are looking to secure the services of Udinese midfielder Jakub Jankto. Some sources are claiming that the Italian club has slapped a £22m price tag on the Czech Republic international amid interest from Everton and Arsenal. Jankto has impressed with some eye-catching performances in the Serie A this season but is now looking to move abroad. It is being reported that both Juventus and Inter Milan are also interested in acquiring the player but the Udinese midfielder has already hinted that he wants to move out of Italy.
Premier League clubs, Arsenal and Everton are currently the frontrunners for his signature and according to latest reports in Italy, the player will cost them at least £22m. It is believed that Udinese will demand a fee close to their asking price for their prized asset, who has developed into one of their most important members of their squad.
Everton are currently looking to bring in reinforcements in January with their new manager, Sam Allardyce determined to stamp his authority at the club. The 21-year-old is definitely someone who can help add some quality to the Toffees’ midfield.
The Toffees have struggled during the first few months into their Premier League campaign but has recently turned their fortunes for the better with the arrival of Sam Allardyce. Jankto has featured in 16 matches for Udinese this season and has scored five goals and made six assists so far.
The left-footed player is highly versatile and can play as a central midfielder as well as on the left flank. He can turn out to be a real asset for the Toffees with their current midfield options failing to score goals. Besides Wayne Rooney and Gylfi Sigurðsson, the other options lack the creativity and goal-scoring threat required to win matches for Everton.
The arrival of Davy Klaassen in the summer was initially greeted with optimism in Merseyside but he has failed to live up to the expectations and now, recruiting a quality midfielder might be at the top of Sam Allardyce’s wishlist when the transfer window opens next month. The Toffees are currently in 10th place in the Premier League standings and are nine points behind 6th placed, Tottenham Hotspur. It might be increasingly difficult for them to finish in the top 6 in this campaign but a strong second half to this season might give them the springboard to potentially find success in the near future.
It remains to be seen whether they can fend off some strong competition in pursuit of the services of Jakub Jankto next month.
