Everton are lining up a January move for Besiktas forward, Cenk Tosun. According to recent reports, the Turkish striker is being tracked by a number of clubs which include Everton, Newcastle United and Juventus with the winter transfer window fast approaching. The 26-year-old has been in terrific form for Besiktas over the past few years which has caught the eyes of some European clubs. The Turkish striker has banged in 20 goals in 33 leagues matches for Besiktas last season and has scored 11 goals in 19 appearances for the club so far this season. He also has three assists to his name in this term.
The forward has especially been in excellent form in the Champions League, scoring four goals in five matches which has helped the Turkish champions top their group with a game to spare. Besiktas are reluctant to sell the forward in January but may be tempted to part ways with their striker if a huge bid comes in over the course of next summer.
Yet, the Premier League duo of Everton and Newcastle United has not been discouraged by their stance and are planning to make a bid for the star striker when the transfer window commences in January. Recent reports have suggested that Juventus have joined in on the hunt to secure Tosun’s services and has already sent scouts to watch him in action at the weekend.
The Besiktas forward banged in the opener for his side in their 3-0 triumph over fellow Turkish rivals, Galatasaray with the scouts from Turin seemingly impressed by his performance. The Italians have moved in quickly and enquired about his availability and are now planning to submit an official bid.
Everton needs to act quickly as well or risk losing out to the mighty Italian side. Cenk Tosun is a player worthy of leading the lines for the Merseysiders. The Turkish international has already shown glimpses of his brilliance at the highest level and narrowly missed out on qualification into the 2018 FIFA World Cup with his home nation.
However, that also means that he will be fresh for his employers when the new season kicks off after the World Cup. This should serve as a long-term motivation for any interested clubs to go all out to land his talents.
The German-born forward can definitely change the Toffees’ fortunes for the better and help them secure a top half finish if Sam Allardyce can convince him and lure him away from Turkey. It remains to be seen whether the Blues of Merseyside can fend off interest from Juventus and Newcastle United in pursuit of this exceptional forward.
