Chelsea are almost out of the title race following their disappointing and surprising loss to West Ham United in the last match. It was supposed to be a formal affair for the defending champions but Antonio Conte’s side messed up things as they couldn’t get past a resolute Hammers defence.
Having spent millions in the summer it is indeed a very underwhelming display from the Blues as they at least should have been a little bit more aggressive what they had done in the last season.
But now it seems the title race is over and it’s Manchester City who are slowly embracing the Premier League trophy as the season deepens.
Chelsea have reportedly taken their interest in CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin. The youngster has been the most talked about players in the European circuit and Chelsea are readying a bid for the player in January.
The 21-year-old midfielder has already made a name for himself in the domestic as well as European circuit and has earned rave reviews from a number of experts for his brilliant technique in the middle of the pitch.
With Russia scheduled to host the World Cup next year, Golovin is tipped to be the main face of Russia in the biggest football extravaganza. The Blues are ready to secure his services for a fee of £15m before the World Cup begins as it often happens player’s value skyrockets if he impresses in the tournament.
Golovin is unlikely to be an imminent part of the Chelsea starting lineup should he arrive at Stamford Bridge and the West London outfit even consider loaning him back to Russia so that he can continue his development at the club.
Antonio Conte was not satisfied with the summer transfer business but with Micheal Emenalo’s departure from the club, he is likely to oversee the winter transfer market.
There are currently a plethora of options in the middle of the park for Conte with Tiemoue Bakayoko, Danny Drinkwater and Cesc Fabregas ready to take the reins but Conte is clearly not happy with how things have progressed so far.
Bakayoko has been struggling to let the ball talking with his feet so Chelsea could fancy another midfielder to increase the competition in the midfield section. Arsene Wenger also is an avid admirer of the player and even instructed his associates to have a watch on the 21-year-old.
Golovin mainly trades in the central midfield and he can also be a very attractive proposition form a more advanced position. Currently, Fabregas holds the same position in the Blues team so Golovin will be filling in his shoes.
