It was an unhappy outing once again for Newcastle United as the Magpies are now winless in their last six outings. It was Déjà vu of the Old Trafford show for the onlooking Newcastle United fans as despite taking an early lead, their defence failed miserably to stop Chelsea from claiming all 3 points.
Here is a look at the Chelsea Player Ratings.
Thibaut Courtois: 7.5
Did all he could for the first goal but was left unlucky. Could have replaced himself with one of the spectators for the rest of the match and no one would have noticed.
Antonio Rudiger: 7
An easy night for the German but needs more composure when on the ball
Cesar Azpilicueta: 7.5
A good night like almost every other time the Spaniard embraces the pitch.
Andreas Christensen: 8
Could have done nothing for the first goal conceded but he was once again on hand for everything else as he continues to justify Conte’s decision to start him ahead of many others.
Victor Moses: 8
A good full match return from his injury. He earned Chelsea the vital third penalty with his pace which effectively killed off Newcastle United.
Marcos Alonso: 6.5
A little casual and at fault for the Newcastle goal but given the number of minutes he has played this season, he can be spared a rare defensive error. Was average on the night, otherwise.
Cesc Fabregas: 8
Another spray of beautiful passes into the forward line, however, no one converted any of them leaving the Spaniard without any assists for the night.
N’Golo Kante: 8
The little Frenchman was everywhere on the night as he swept out any possible Newcastle build up.
Danny Drinkwater: 7.5
The Englishman is a tactical delight for any manager and is clearly having fun on his reunion with his former Leicester midfield partner.
Eden Hazard: 9
He could have scored his second Chelsea hat-trick against the same opposition that too. However, the Belgian wasted three simple chances but took the other two with absolute delight. He was also unstoppable every time he got the ball.
Alvaro Morata: 8
Another match, another headed goal. 9 goals and 4 assists would mean that Morata’s dream start continues as the Blues look to win their easy matches in this busy Christmas schedule.
Substitutes
Tiemoue Bakayoko: 5.5
An improvement of sorts as he made no errors in the fifteen-odd minutes he got on the pitch. Conte will be relieved.
Willian: 5.5
His pace and dribbling precision was the perfect late pressure Antonio Conte wanted to put on the Magpies to keep them defending.
