Reports have emerged that Tottenham Hotspur have 8/1 odds to land the services of West Ham United left-back, Aaron Cresswell. The England international has appeared in 15 matches for the club registering 2 assists for himself. With the current conundrum the club is facing, he might favour a move away from the club in order to keep his place in the national team and not go back to playing in the EFL Championship.
Tottenham may have a significant interest in the striker, as they prepare for the possibility of losing Danny Rose to Manchester United in the January transfer window. Rose has previously spoken explicitly about his issues with the North London side as he criticized the club’s transfer policies and the wage structure for the players.
With only 5 appearances for the club this season and Ben Davies filling his shoes in the position, Rose will be pleased with the prospects of signing with United in January.
Even though Davies has had a major role for the club, his inconsistencies on the defensive end can find himself as the second choice wing back again as Mauricio Pochettino looks for a more experienced and complete alternative.
Davies might also prove to be a worthy challenger for the English fullback and might have to once again fight for his place in the starting lineup, which was probably a thing of the past for him with Rose missing a chunk of the action due to injury.
Liverpool and Everton hold 4/1 odds as possible destinations for the 27 year old. The Reds might look to press the option of a possible transfer with the inadequacies of Alberto Moreno and the makeshift duties of James Milner on the left.
Everton also has to deal with the recent injury of Leighton Banes, with Cuco Martina currently filling the left back position. But after a very expensive summer, the Toffees might not be able to dish out a whole lot of cash to sign Cresswell whose contract runs till 2021.
Aaron Cresswell has been sensational for the Hammers in the past 3 years and has earned himself a place in the England national team in November 2016. He was also called up for the World Cup 2018 qualifier matches against Malta, Slovakia, Slovenia and Lithuania in 2017.
With only Ryan Bertrand as a first option, Gareth Southgate might call for Cresswell’s services in the World Cup 2018. The Hammers might promise regular game time, but a return to the lower division might hurt his chances in the future of being called up on international duties.
