Championship outfit, Birmingham City, are perceived to be interested to make a move for Arsenal’s youngster, Krystian Bielik, on loan in the upcoming January transfer window in order to strengthen their side which really needs an addition. The Blues have been unproductive and absurd in their endeavours in the league this season, having collected merely 16 points from 22 games so far and are placed rock-bottom in the league table. Their current situation is quite appalling, to say the least.
They have lost 4 of their last 5 games and it goes without saying that they would need to cultivate some sort of resurrection in order to refrain themselves from falling into the clutches of relegation zone. Besides, they have leaked 32 goals so far and fixing their defensive aspects holds paramount importance. Signing Bielik on loan for the second half of the season could be a welcome change for them, as the starlet is well familiar with Birmingham City.
Bielik was signed by Gianfranco Zola for the second half of the season last term and he eventually proved to be a handy package for them. He featured in 10 games for City last season, comprising of a win against Wolverhampton Wanderers and clean sheets against Newcastle United and Bristol City and played a key role in helping them to evade the relegation zone on the last day of the campaign. The 19-year-old is now back in training after going a shoulder surgery in recent months.
He is currently with Arsenal U23 side and given the plethora of stars Arsene Wenger has at his disposal, it is unlikely that he would get a chance to thrive on a regular basis this season. However, the Gunners rate him very highly and see him as a commodity which they should be able to rely on in future. In order to keep him in shape, the prospect of shipping him out on loan to a Championship club has the ingredients to be a decent move from Arsenal.
The Polish ace is capable of plying his trade as a centre-back as well as a defensive midfielder and is good in reading the game and doesn’t rush himself to useless tackles. He is a calm and composed figure and considering that he is a long way down in the pecking order at Arsenal, he would get more game time under his belt under Steve Cotterill and in the process, help them in keeping them inside the rendezvous zone at the end of the season.
