Gerard Deulofeu has been on the move since time immemorial. The talented Spanish winger promised a lot but has never been able to settle anywhere in his career. The Barcelona youth academy product failed to make a mark in his young days at the club and could settle in the side that many considered to be the best in world football at that time.
He was sent out on loan to Everton in 2013 for a season where he failed to impress. The next season saw him head to Sevilla on loan again where he had another disappointing spell and finally in the summer of 2015, he was bought by Everton. In his two year spell, he failed to make it count and was sent out on loan for the last six months where his form took an upturn and he was immediately seized back the Catalan giants who activated their buy-back clause for him last summer.
It now appears that he may be on the move again, having failed to cut an impression this time around as well at the club. He does not get enough game time despite Ousmane Dembele being out injured and with reports of Philippe Coutinho come to Catalonia, the Barcelona board will need to make some room for the Brazilian and Deulofeu could be packing his bags yet again.
Here are three clubs who can look to snap up the out of favour albeit talented Spanish winger.
Everton
The Toffees have spent a hefty amount already this season in players. Despite that, they are still far away from a European spot and although things under new manager Sam Allardyce have improved, Everton are still far away from posing attacking threats to opposing teams. Their gritty defence is helping them see out matches and adding back their old winger who knows the league well might add that extra spark in their attack for them to launch forward with more cohesion and balance.
West Ham United
David Moyes looks determined to correct his previous couple of managerial adventure failures with West Ham United. The Scot has done a decent job at West Ham United in the short time so far and will look to improve on his good start to life in his new club. He is being backed by the West Ham board to add new players of his choice and adding a winger might help his cause. Although West Ham have plenty of options going forward, most have been inconsistent and few are not to Moyes’ liking. In such a scenario, Deulofeu could prove to be a cheap option and a player with the right skills to play as a winger in Moyes’s new look team.
Newcastle United
Benitez has been left frustrated with the lack of signings at Newcastle United. He has had to deal with a squad he inherited in the Championships. The inflated market has made it impossible for him to get players at the right price and his team has looked lacklustre and lacking in the middle of the big boys. Deulofeu could prove to be the right bargain with Barcelona looking to offload him and hence unlikely to hold out for a high price for their winger.
