As per one of the latest reports by the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa, are keen to secure the services of Liverpool’s promising youngster, Marko Grujic, in the upcoming January transfer window. Apart from the Villans, Galatasaray and Brighton & Hove Albion are also perceived to have put Grujic on their radar and thus, it goes without saying that it would be quite intriguing to see which team has the last laugh in the quest of making him on the dotted line.
Bruce’s side have been quite decent so far in the Championship, having collected 37 points from 22 fixtures so far and are placed at the 5th spot in the league table. However, the Lions have to excel their productivity further and if they are to really challenge for promotion to the English top division, they do have to beef up their arsenal in the January transfer window to bolster their chances. Grujic would be an astute addition to the Villa squad and no wonder they are pursuing him.
The 21-year-old emerged through the youth ranks of Red Star Belgrade and having shown his calibre with their senior side, he was signed by Liverpool for £5.1million in the January transfer window of 2016. He hasn’t been able to get a regular amount of game time for the Reds and Jurgen Klopp is believed to be ready to sanction a loan move for him so that he gets the requisite chance of brushing himself by playing first-team football elsewhere rather than playing for Liverpool Under-23s.
Besides, Kloop wants him to stay in England, and thus, Aston Villa should really maraud forward to sign him. Bruce is looking to enhance his midfield ranks and adding a quality youth player could very well meet his needs. The Serbian international is a powerful midfielder who is generally seen to be very industrious in his attacking endeavours and passes the ball quite well. He is a good finisher and reads the game well and no wonder that the Reds brought him in for a notable price.
However, Grujic is yet to find his feet on English soil and he still has some rough edges such as his lack of positional awareness or clumsy first touch. Impliedly, what would be best for him would be to join a club wherein he is likely to get more time on the pitch and earn valuable experience and thus, a move to the Villa Park should be a tempting one for the youngster.
