Steven Nzonzi’s Premier League career could have had a second shot in the Premier League as a number of English clubs are rooting for his services. The 28-year-old midfielder had a more or less unsuccessful stint at Stoke City but could arrive in the English soil which would give him a chance to reestablish his authority in the Premier League.
Arsenal are reportedly willing to bring the player from Spain. Arsene Wenger’s side have been hanging out in the top four and would definitely fancy their chances if the other teams slip out of their own bracket.
The Gunners brought in just two players in the summer but Wenger knows he would be in sheer trouble if he doesn’t spend the penny in the January transfer window.
Nzonzi had a fallout with Sevilla manager Eduardo Berizzo after the player got substituted in the break against Liverpool in the Champions League. Sevilla went on to have a cracker of a match as they fought from behind to make it 3-3 from 3-0.
Nzonzi has been training lonely and Wenger might take this opportunity to have the player at Emirates. Santi Cazorla’s unavailability has hit the team hard. Granit Xhaka has been working very hard of late but the midfielder still lacks a character and Nzonzi is the player to fill it in.
The lanky enforcer made his debut for France recently and Everton have become the latest side to have linked with the midfielder. Sam Allardyce has been given the charge at the Goodison Park and he has reportedly identified Nzonzi as his first target.
Everton would be looking for some new recruitments and Nzonzi fits the bill perfectly.
The former Blackburn Rovers midfielder did express his feelings about the Premier League a few days ago. “I love the Premier League. I really like the Premier League. This is where I started at a good level. I had a great time there.
“I don’t know what is going to happen in the future. I am fine with Sevilla. I feel good. I am used to it now. It is my third season so I am happy.”
The midfielder has a release clause in his contract and that is believed to be in the range of £40m.
Nzonzi could be the perfect player as he would be able to provide more security to the backline and his brilliant drive from the deeper parts of the midfield will definitely be a handful for a team like Arsenal, who are currently struggling to keep hold of the ball in the midfield.
