Leicester City will travel to Watford on Boxing Day at the back of a dramatic display at home against Manchester United in which they secured a credible draw through the last gasp equaliser by Harry Maguire. The Foxes are in terrific form and will go into this game full of confidence as they look to bag the three points at the expense of a struggling Hornets’ team who has suffered five league defeats in their previous six matches. Marco Silva’s team are in dire need of a result as they slump down the Premier League table while Claude Puel’s Leicester sit pretty in 8th place in the league standings.
The recent history of this fixture doesn’t make good reading for the Hornets as they have just defeated their West Midlands counterparts once in their previous six encounters in the league. Claude Puel is set to deploy a 4-4-1-1 formation at Vicarage Road and will keep his fingers crossed for Danny Simpson who is a major doubt for the game.
4-4-1-1 Leicester City Predicted Lineup To Face Watford
Defence
Kasper Schmeichel is set to start in goal for the Foxes and might be protected by a back four of Wes Morgan and Harry Maguire at the heart of the defence while Ben Chilwell operates in the left-back position and Danny Simpson plays in the right-hand side of the backline pending he overcomes his injury.
Claude Puel’s men have conceded 28 goals in 19 league matches and will look to improve on their defensive record as they strive to close the gap to 7th placed Burnley in the league standings.
Midfield
Wilfred Ndidi and Vicente Iborra will anchor the Leicester midfielder while Marc Albrighton continues to use his pace on the left flank and Riyad Mahrez looks to cut in and create plays from the right side.
The West Midlands club will be reliant on Mahrez to keep up his recent good form against Marco Silva’s men in what promises to be a highly entertaining contest.
Attack
The Japanese international Shinji Okazaki might start ahead of Demarai Gray as part of Puel’s attack and will be tasked to play in the shoulders of Jamie Vardy who will lead the lines for Leicester once again. The English striker has scored in each of his last two matches in all competitions and will be eager to face this Watford defence which has leaked 13 goals in their previous six league matches.
