Leicester City will entertain Manchester United at the King Power Stadium following their heartbreaking penalty shootout loss to Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup. The Foxes will now look to get a result against another club from Manchester in their attempts to bounce back from their league loss to Crystal Palace last time out. Claude Puel’s men are currently sitting pretty in 8th place in the Premier League standings still five points behind 7th placed Tottenham Hotspur. The West Midlands outfit desperately needs a win to keep the pressure up on Spurs and Burnley if they are to break into the top 6 of the Premier League.
The recent history of this fixture does not make a good reading for Leicester fans as the Foxes has lost their last four meetings with Manchester United and has also not tasted victory in their previous seven encounters with the Red Devils. It is expected that Claude Puel will opt for his favoured 4-4-1-1 formation against Jose Mourinho’s men on Saturday night and is set to recall some of his star players into the starting lineup after resting them in midweek.
4-4-1-1 Leicester City Predicted Lineup To Face Manchester United
Defence
Kasper Schmeichel will once again take his place in goal for Leicester City and is expected to be shielded by a backline of Harry Maguire and Wes Morgan at the heart of the Foxes’ defence while Ben Chilwell takes his place at left-back and Danny Simpson starts on the right side of the back-four.
They will be tasked to keep a fluid and pacy Manchester United front four quiet on Saturday night. The Leicester defence has leaked in 26 goals in 18 league games so their manager will be keeping his fingers crossed for a much-improved defensive showing against Mourinho’s men.
Midfield
Wilfred Ndidi will come back into the line up after serving his one-match suspension in midweek against Manchester City and will be partnered with Vicente Iborra at the centre of the park. Marc Albrighton is expected to use his pace on the left flank while Riyad Mahrez starts on the right side of the midfield.
Demarai Gray might play just off the shoulders of Jamie Vardy, who will start up top for the Foxes.
Attack
Jamie Vardy will lead the lines for Leicester City following his injury-time equaliser from the penalty spot against Manchester City in midweek. A lot will rest on his shoulders as he looks to inspire his team-mates by putting in another goal-scoring performance against the Manchester outfit on Saturday night.
Shinji Okazaki may come off the bench if required and partner Vardy depending upon the course of the match.
