Liverpool will look to go back to winning ways versus Swansea City at Anfield on Boxing Day following their high scoring 3-3 draw against Arsenal at the Emirates on Friday night. The Reds are in terrific form going forward while they have started to concede cheap goals at the back. Jurgen Klopp’s team has recently squandered points at home to the likes of West Bromwich Albion and Everton in the Premier League.
However, the Kopites will hope that their team can manage to break down the Swans in what looks set to be a one-sided contest. The Merseysiders are currently fighting to keep their place in the Top 4 with both North London clubs, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur hot on their heels in the race to secure Champions League football for next season. Anything other than a victory on Monday could see the Reds slip out of the top four positions and hand initiative to their North London counterparts.
The recent history of this fixture makes a happy reading for the Welsh club as Swansea City has won two of their previous three encounters with the Merseyside club. However, they would go into this contest as firm underdogs following the miserable first half of their league campaign which has seen them sit rock bottom of the Premier League standings. Jurgen Klopp will continue with his favoured 4-3-3 formation but may be enticed to make changes to try and freshen up his squad.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Swansea City
Defence
Simon Mignolet might start ahead of Loris Karius following his dismal performance against Arsenal and the Belgian keeper might be protected by a backline of Ragnar Klavan and Dejan Lovren at the heart of the Reds’ defence while Andrew Roberton will continue as a left-back in the absence of Alberto Moreno. Trent Alexander-Arnold might come in place for Joe Gomez at right-back and will be tasked to put in a tireless shift on the right flank.
Midfield
Liverpool’s midfield three will consist of the likes of James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Georginio Wijnaldum after the trio started on the bench at the Emirates. Captain Jordon Henderson fell victim to an injury versus Arsenal and is likely to miss out on this home game for the Reds.
Attack
Jurgen Klopp will keep everyone guessing until the last minute on who he picks as the front three for the match. It is expected that Phillipe Coutinho will retain his place in the starting eleven and might start on the left while Liverpool’s top scorer, Mohamed Salah looks to use his pace on the right flank.
Dominic Solanke might come back and occupy a starting place in Jurgen Klopp’s team to pave the way for Roberto Firmino to be benched so that he can be well rested ahead of the busy festive schedule going into the new year.
