Bayern Munich will look to continue their impressive run under Jupp Heynckes as they travel to Stuttgart this weekend.
Following a 1:0 win against bottom club in midweek’s Englische Woche fixture, the Bavarians hold a mammoth nine-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga table. They will look to end their Hinrunde campaign on a positive note, with matches against Dortmund and Leverkusen lurking around the corner.
Jupp Heynckes will definitely rest some key players against Stuttgart, with the veteran coach having one eye, on the all-important DFB Pokal 3rd round fixture against Borussia Dortmund.
Here’s the predicted 4-2-3-1 Bayern Munich lineup to face VfB Stuttgart this weekend.
Defence
Veteran goalkeeper Tom Starke, who can back from retirement this season, featured on midweek’s game against Koln. He will likely be replaced by second choice goalkeeper Sven Ulreich.
In the backline, Mats Hummels, who has impressed for the most part of this season, will start alongside national team partner Jerome Boateng. The former Man City defender has raised some questions regarding his future in recent weeks and there’s a strong possibility that he might leave the Allianz Arena next summer, having been bettered by Niklas Sule for the most part of this season.
Rafinha might start ahead of young Joshua Kimmich as the right back while David Alaba will settle for the left back position.
Midfield
Star midfielder Thiago Alcantara is still out with an injury. Chilean International midfielder Arturo Vidal has played in his stead, so far. However, he is likely to sit out for this encounter as Jupp Heynckes look to rest some of his key players for the game against Dortmund next midweek.
Therefore, new signing Corentin Tolisso could be a starter in midfield. He will partner former Hoffenheim midfield sensation, Sebastian Rudy.
Rudy has been super impressive this season, especially after the injury of Thiago Alcantara. His presence in midfield could be crucial for the Bavarians as they look to strangle the Stuttgart defence.
Attack
James Rodriguez might replace Franck Ribery this weekend. The Frenchman, who started the game against Koln, recently came back from a long-term injury and coach Jupp Heynckes wouldn’t want to risk losing one of his best attackers once again. Colombian Rodriguez will be deployed as the central attacking midfielder with Thomas Muller and Kingsley Coman being deployed on the flanks.
Robert Lewandowski will lead the charge for FC Bayern this weekend. The Polish international is by far the most in-form Bayern player at the very moment. He will once again be a vital cog in the Bayern attack.
