Crystal Palace winger has been a subject of some serious transfer interest from Premier League giants in Arsenal and Manchester City. Following a dismal first half of the season, Palace may mind it difficult to keep hold of their star players in the upcoming January transfer window, with unsurprisingly topping the charts of possible departures.
The former Manchester United prodigy has been a bright spot for an otherwise dire season for Crystal Palace so far. Scoring four goals in 13 matches, the 25-year-old has currently scored more goals than any other players for the club this season.
Replacing the English attacker will definitely be a difficult task for Roy Hodgson’s men, who will be needing an immediate alternative in the attack, this January. Here are three players who can possibly replace the talented attacker at the Selhurst Park.
3. Demarai Gray
The Leicester City star in one of the most exciting wingers for the 2015-16 Premier League champions at the moment.
Bought from Birmingham City in 2015, the 21-year-old has been super impressive at Leicester City, often becoming an important attacking outlet for the Foxes. However, Demarai Gray will be desperate the make the next jump to his career, especially after being used a substitute player for the most part of his Leicester City career.
This season, the 21-year-old has featured in 18 games, nine of which have come from the bench whilst playing the full ninety minutes only four times. He has the quality as well as a trickery to become a handful to the opposition and therefore, the Eagles should definitely make a move for him this January.
2. Georges-Kevin Nkoudou
One of the most hyped transfer signings of Tottenham in recent memory, Nkoudou’s purchase from Ligue 1 giants Marseille felt like fresh air for the Spurs fan.
However, the Frenchman hasn’t had many opportunities to show his quality of English football, largely due to the stunning performances from teammates Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Heung-Min Son.
The highly-rated youngster from Spurs could be an invaluable signing for Crystal Palace, who might hugely boost their chances of survival come the end of this season.
1. Alex Iwobi
Although it might seem a little too ridiculous, it actually could make sense considering the fact that Arsenal, themselves, have shown great interest in Wilfried Zaha.
Therefore, the Eagles should plan to lure in the Arsenal youngster in a swap deal rather than opting for the paycheck. Iwobi has been one of the brightest Arsenal prospects in recent years but has struggled with his lack of game time throughout his career, with the north London outfit.
A move to Crystal Palace will definitely help him get the first-team opportunities he truly deserves.
