Henrikh Mkhitaryan will most likely leave Manchester United after failing to even be selected in the squad for 7 of the last 8 games, let alone the first team. He demanded a face to face with the club manager, Jose Mourinho to get an explanation and figure out his future with the club.
Jose Mourinho has explained why he has left the Armenian out of the squad lately when asked about it in a press conference. He attributed it to the drop in Mkhitaryan’s form in almost every aspect of the game.
The attacking midfielder had started off the season on a good run but step by step his performance for the Red Devils started to disappoint the manager be it as a goal scorer, providing assists or pressing up towards the opposition. With Paul Pogba back from injury and Jese Lingard impressing from the flanks, Mourinho simply has no place for the 28-year-old in the team right now and considers Juan Mata as the better alternative.
An exit might just be imminent but Mourinho has to think about replacing him too if they want to catch Manchester City in the points table by the end of the season. They are currently 11 points behind the noisy neighbours after their 1-3 defeat to the side at Old Trafford.
Mesut Ozil
Arsenal are going to try for a final time to persuade their star playmaker, Mesut Ozil to stay at the club but they might trade him if he declines before the January transfer window opens. Ozil is still highly regarded in the books of Mourinho, who is eager to snatch the maestro up if given the opportunity.
The German international will be the perfect replacement for Mikhitaryan in Mourinho’s attacking lineup and might just be the missing piece they have been looking for. He can take up the number 10 role in front of Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera with Romelu Lukaku as the lone striker. An eery picture for the rest of Premier League sides to swallow.
Joao Mario
After being the best player in the midfield for Inter Milan last season, Joao Mario has found himself banished to the bench in recent times. The table toppers might consider selling the player come January for a higher amount than the £40million they paid for him in the summer of 2016. With just 3 goals and 12 assists for the Serie A side in 43 appearances he might not be exactly what Mourinho might be looking for, but a still a good option for Manchester.
Cenk Tosun
Although heavily linked to Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and Chelsea recently Manchester United should consider the 26-year-old Turkish international has been in terrific form this season with 12 goals in 23 matches. He has been a key figure in leading Besiktas to the knockout stages of the Champions League. Priced at around £30m, he is a cheaper option Mourinho should keep on his radar.
