After an excellent start, a little dip in the middle, Leeds United are coming back into the foray this season. Here is a look at three possible signings that can help further their cause this season.
Moanes Dabour
One position where a new signing has been suggested is the position of a striker. Leeds United on loan striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga has some fitness concerns to deal with according to reports and with their regular forward Caleb Ekuban out injured, a striker could be the order of the day.
This has led to Leeds United being linked with Red Bull Salzburg’s Israeli striker Moanes Dabour. Dabour has been in great form for the Austrian team this season. He has already notched up a fantastic around 15 goals this season and is looking in very good shape.
The 25-year-old striker will now be tempted by Leeds United to come to England. However, whether Dabour will leave the league trophies and European football which he gets in Austria for a chance to come and play in England remains to be seen.
Benjamin Woodburn
Liverpool’s 18-year old wonderkid has come into the limelight on the big stage and is grabbing attention with his impressive progress. Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer has made his little chances count and has already broken into the national team set-up. His meteoric rise has also drawn praise from both his national team manager Chris Coleman and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp. The 18-year old will want regular game time now be it under Klopp’s tutelage or somewhere else. It will see the Welshman develop rather rapidly and help him cash in on his current confidence.
Since first-team chances are hard to come by at Anfield, Klopp would be smart to loan him out and bring him back later as a developed star to Liverpool. In this situation, with Leeds United light on their options up front, they can work a loan deal for the talented Welshman to help their promotion to the Premier League next season.
Michael Devlin
Leeds United could be in the running for Hamilton Academical defender Michael Devlin. Devlin, whose contract runs out this summer, has already been shown interest in by a number of clubs in the Championship.
Amidst interest from Ipswich Town, Preston North End and Cardiff City, it is believed that Cardiff are the ones in the lead with their manager Neil Warnock ready to make a move for the Hamilton captain.
Devlin who suffered a long-term injury last season around March has been out of action since. He is yet to play this season but the player’s quality is enough to have suitors lining up for him. Devlin, who came through the youth academy of Hamilton, can leave for free as his contract runs over next summer.
For Leeds United, Devlin could be vital addition given the defensive worries they face through injuries and suspensions. Moreover, a free transfer for a player of Devlin’s experience could be just the signing needed to boost the thin defensive numbers at Leeds.
