The loss against Liverpool at home has left Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth struggling at the 16th place in the points table, just a point off the drop zone. The manager has his side playing a decent brand of football but with no wins in the last six matches, his side might struggle later in the season, with fixtures coming thick and fast.
Howe will also look to add names to his squad, to help them through the business end of the season and keep them in the top flight for another season. He needs players who can walk into the first team when needed, and has been linked with a number of exciting stars in recent times. Here are the three such signings Howe should make in January, to help their chances of survival:
Danny Ings (Liverpool):
The English international is finally back to full fitness and has been in terrific form for the Liverpool reserves consistently this season. He has also found first team game time in the absence of Daniel Sturridge in the last few games but at 25, he will need more game time to reach his potential and Jurgen Klopp will be ready to send him out on loan. A number of English clubs are already scouting for him but Ings could turn into a first team star at the Vitality Stadium, with backups from Wilson and Defoe, adding some goals to a struggling Bournemouth side.
Jack Wilshere (Arsenal):
The English midfielder had a productive time out on loan at Bournemouth last season, but the Cherries decided not to make his move permanent in the summer. However, Wilshere is now looking in good touch at the Emirates and is yet to sign on a new deal. His contract expires at the end of the season and Arsenal might be forced to sell in January and Bournemouth should be all over the 25-year old. He can walk into the first team and add creativity and stability to the Cherries midfield and is a player who can surely take them to safety.
Dujon Sterling (Chelsea):
The least experienced option on this list, Sterling, is a versatile wing-back, currently struggling to establish himself in the first team at the Stamford Bridge. At just 18, he already has 27 reserve league appearances for Chelsea and is already looking at a role in the senior squad. Howe loves young players and the Chelsea man, who has something to offer at both ends of the field, is certainly going to excite him. Reports claim that Bournemouth are ready to take him on loan in January and that is a move they definitely need to make.
