Wolverhampton Wanderers are travelling to south-east London to play Millwall in their EFL Championship fixture on Tuesday. Winning their last 4 Boxing Day matches Wolves are heavy favourites to win against a team in the 17 spot of the points table.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have slowed down in the goal-scoring department with just 3 in their last 4 games but are still efficient in the win column. They are coming off a 1-0 win against Ipswich Town and have opened up a 7 point lead ahead of Cardiff City at the top of the table.
Millwall, on the other hand, are struggling after a 3 goal away defeat to Derby County on the weekend. Club manager, Neil Harris will be looking to add some fresh faces to the squad before they face the league leaders post Christmas. They have registered 26 points so far and are currently safe from a relegation battle.
However, a loss tonight might change that and they will have to stop Santo’s men from running away with an easy win.
Espirito Santo is predicted to field his men in his usual 3-4-3 lineup. The formation has worked well so far.
Defence
John Ruddy has 11 clean sheets to his name this season with no goals conceded in the last 4 games. He is the first choice under Santo to appear in front of goal and is expected to start for this fixture.
The defensive back 3 of Ryan Bennett, Conor Coady and Willy Boly has been practically impenetrable this season. With Coady leading the side with the captain’s armband the trio works perfectly in harmony in the manager’s setup and are expected to continue for this matchup against the Lions.
Midfield
Romain Saiss and Ruben Neves are the dynamic duo who links up the attack and the defence of the team. They may find their usual spot around the centre circle.
Barry Douglas returned to starting lineup ahead in their last fixture against Ipswich but might not start in the left wing-back position. Ruben Vinagre can expect a call-up to replace the 28-year-old Scotsman with Matt Doherty on the right.
Attack
Ivan Cavaleiro will look to get the nod for this fixture from the right side in the final three and continue his brilliant run of form with Leo Bonatini up top in the striker role. However, Diogo Jota might be given a breather in this matchup and not start.
Alfred N’Diaye might just replace him in the starting XI with the Portugues making a substitute appearance.
