Real Madrid summer signing, Danny Ceballos has been on the radar of Premier League side Arsenal for a possible move in January. The 21-year-old has mustered just 406 minutes in 23 games for the Galacticos, so far this season. Failing to make an impact on the pitch at his current club, Ceballos might be looking to find himself a new club in the upcoming transfer market.
Recent reports claim that AS Roma might swoop in with a better deal for the Spaniard, with a loan spell for the remainder of the season, and a future buy-back clause. However, Real Madrid might be hesitant to sell their newly acquired talent, who joined their side last summer. But a short-term loan is something they should consider in order to promote his development.
The young holding midfielder had an impressive season in Real Betis where he appeared in 98 matches in 3 seasons. He was also awarded the player of U-21 European Championship ahead the likes of Marco Asensio and Saul Niguez.
The Spaniard is set to be the replacement for 31-year-old Croatian, Luka Modric at the Bernabeu. His technical ability on the ball with a confident control of the midfield position mimics Modric’s game perfectly. He is part of the club president, Florentino Perez’s vision for more home-grown players in the team.
Los Blancos are strategically setting up a star-stacked youth squad to replace the ageing first team in the near future. With Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Sergio Ramos and Marcelo already in their 30s, they need to secure a future for the team in order to keep competing for titles in Europe.
After the summer signing of Theo Hernandez from Atletico Madrid, they are also targeting the Atletico Bilbao goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga in January to replace Keylor Navas.
With the quality of Marco Asensio and Isco in front of him, Ceballos will fill the no.8 role perfectly with Casemiro alongside him in Zidane’s current formation.
Arsenal, on the other hand, have problems of their own in the midfield. With players like Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka not being able to dish out good performances on a consistent basis, adding someone of the stature of the 21-year-old Spanish youngster might be a good ploy for Arsene Wenger. So there is a chance that the French mastermind might look to table a bid for Ceballos in the near future and bring him in to stabilise the midfield of the North London club to a great extent.
However, it will also depend on the player to make a decision in the near future regarding his career. Do you think he is the right man for Arsenal?
