Leicester City youth team striker, Josh Eppiah has started to attract attention from Stoke City and a host of Premier League sides. The 19-year-old’s development in the u-23 Leceister team has been nothing short of remarkable as seen from his winning goal against Everton in their recent Premier League cup clash.
With Everton boss, Sam Allardyce alerted about the new talent by Craig Shakespeare, the Potters are closely monitoring Eppiah’s progress and might be looking towards a possible transfer come January. They are currently sitting in the 15th spot of the Premier League just 3 points above West Ham in the relegation zone. Their 1-0 defeat to Burnley was a huge blow to Mark Hughes’ side as they might get pulled into a battle to stay in the league by the end of the season.
The Potters have failed to score more than 2 goals in a match this season while allowing 36 of them into their own net. Their defensive struggles might be attributed to the lack of almost any offensive threat.
Currently, Mark Hughes has to rely on Mame Biram Diouf and the 36 years old former England international, Peter Crouch to lead their attacking lineup alongside out-of-form Saido Berahino. Xerdan Shaqiri is their best offensive threat from the right wing with Paris Saint-Germain striker, Jese Rodriguez failing to make an appearance in the starting lineup since October.
The manager has admitted that he needs more firepower up front to help them secure a top spot by the end of the season. He will be looking to sign a striker on a loan this January, although the top names might not be available or would just outright too expensive. Acquiring the talents of Josh Eppiah might just be their top priorities this January although the striker has still not played in the Premier League. Whether he will make an immediate impact is questionable but surely a prospect for the future.
Every rising talent receives offers of lucrative deals from other clubs just like that in the case of Josh Eppiah. His progress has been monumental and he will be eagerly waiting for his deserved chance to shine for the Leicester City first team. If the Foxes refuse to promote him just yet, he might consider those offers with the promise of featuring in the starting lineup.
Leicester City are well aware of the striker’s growing popularity among club scouts and will have to soon start fending off possible transfer talks while keeping Eppiah happy at the club. He has so far appeared in 8 Premier League 2 outings for the club and 4 EFL Trophy matches, registering 2 assists to his name.
