It has been a pretty difficult season for Fulham in the Championship. Slavisa Jokanovic’s side have failed to follow up on their performance from last season. The Cottagers qualified for the playoffs last season but this time around they might need to be a little more cautious as relegation could be looming large in the near future.
Fulham are reportedly tracking Utrecht player Yassine Ayoub. The 23-year-old is very highly rated at the Dutch club and the Championship side now want the deal to materialise in January to improve their prospect this season.
Jokanovic has been looking for some exciting talents to be added to his side in January and has identified the player as a possible target. The Moroccan played a huge role as his current club Utrecht qualified for the Europa League last season and has been pretty consistent in this season too.
A product of the famed Ajax academy, Ayoub’s contract is due to expire at the end of this season and looking at the current condition it seems the club have no intention to extend his stay.
So ideally a deal could be within reach if Utrecht decides to cash in on him. It would be increasingly impossible for Fulham to grab a place in the top six but Jokanovic wants to finish the season on a positive note.
The versatile player is basically a left winger but he has played in a number of positions including the ones in the midfield too. He is equally adept in the central midfield role and can also be very effective when it comes to controlling the play from the deep.
Despite representing Netherlands at various age group he decided to switch his allegiance to Morocco although he is yet to make an appearance for the country.
Fulham had their representative present on a number of occasions to watch the progress of the player and it seems they are quite satisfied with the player’s development.
Fulham’s lack of creativity has been one of their main problems and Ayoub could soon be the solution for the Cottagers. He has been one of the most consistent performers in the Eredivisie in the last few seasons and could lighten up the Championship with his brilliant pair of feet.
He has the poise and flair to meet the demands of the Championship and a move is likely to happen. If he does come at the Craven Cottage, Fulham might look forward to repeating their effort from the last term and reach as far as possible.
